Both LA women's teams played against each other Thursday July 2nd at Hidden Valley Park. The 16's played very well considering we have not had a full team practice yet...They managed to hold the older LA team for 20 minutes, before being broken down and allowing a close range finish...The 18's only had 10 players (vactions/illness) and had to borrow field players from the younger team to act as keeper. The 18's dominated possession but were reckless in the final third and could not finish the several early chances...
2nd half provide long stretches of possession for the older team, and that led to some complacency which the 16's took advantage and created several good counter attacks. I'm not sure of the final score (2-1 to the 18's I think, may be 2-2) but it was very educational for me personally. I was pleasantly surprised by the 16's since I have never seen the group play, they have a lot of talent and some players with speed, the tendency to give the ball away in the middle 3rd is an area needs improvement. When 18's get to full strength they will be very competitive.
Have a SAFE 4th of July JT
